About Me
Profile Type: Individual
Year Founded: 2006
Number of Employees: 1
From humble beginnings as a schoolboy poet, Jon has clambered steadily upwards through Old Boys' Association Magazines, contributions to student newspapers, stints on business-to-business magazines in his native Plymouth and, most recently, commissioning and editing "The Maker's Mark: Remnants", a collection of surreal robo-punk Western stories by authors based all round the world.
Jon graduated in Creative and Professional Writing & English from the University of Wolverhampton in 2007. In the course of that course, he turned his pen to news features (issues and business profiles), local journalism, peer-to-peer tuition, product reviews and more academic essays than were strictly necessary.
In 2008, Jon left Freak Ash Books and returned to university, where he's currently working on his Master's Degree in English.

Detailed Service Description
Content to work from single-sentence briefs or elaborate recorded discussions, Jon is capable of seeing a written project through concept, development, drafting, redrafting, proofreading and copy-editing. Further written copy, telephony and event management for publicity purposes have been known to feature. If he knew how, he'd quite happily set the type for you.

Freak Ash, Managing Director
Jon Garrad has been Freak Ash's de facto Head of Books since the company was founded in 2006. During this time, he's provided press releases for Freak Ash projects and compiled the list of people to send them to, as well as leading the Maker's Mark project.
In addition to his fictional contribution to "Remnants", the first book in the series, Jon made a superb job of the editing, as well as going on to write the afterword, press release, content for the website and anything else that needed doing, and organising the launch event in Wolverhampton.

Formedia, Director
Jon Garrad was employed by Formedia for two weeks in January 2007 to assist with creative writing, providing editorial content and copy for business to business titles that we publish. Some of the work involved Jon researching a topic from scratch, others turning poorly written press releases into crisp, clear copy.
Jonathan was extremely helpful and useful during his two weeks with Formedia and is a talented creative writer. He has an excellent command of the English language and often found interesting angles to otherwise dry subjects. He was always punctual, polite and appropriately behaved, and I soon came to trust him to work unsupervised, even when dealing directly with clients. He is well natured, good humoured and enthusiastic, and keen to help whenever he can.
I have no doubt that Jonathan would be a useful asset to any company requiring the highest standards of writing.
